Guy Harvey Outpost Club & Resort Tarpon Springs

Guy Harvey Outpost Resorts is rolling out its flag on another recreational vehicle resort in Florida. The Fort Lauderdale hotel branding company and Elite Resorts, an RV campground manager-developer, announced plans to develop an upscale resort RV community near Tarpon Springs for angling and RV enthusiasts. The $15 million, 46-acre project will feature 340 brick-paved RV lots with 100 amp service to accommodate larger RVs as well as an array of resort style amenities, according to Elite Resorts. The RV lots will be available for sale beginning this fall. "With RV sales increasing for the fifth consecutive year and some 10 million RVers on the road, the demand for upscale, parks [with amenities] is huge," Ed Mayer, Elite's president, said in a news release. The new Tarpon Springs, A Guy Harvey Outpost RV Resort will be north of Tarpon Springs in Pasco County between the Anclote Parks on the Anclote River and Gulf of Mexico, Mayer said. The partners revealed plans for their new project on opening day of the Florida RV Super Show in Tampa.

The hospitality outfit was founded in 2007 by Mark Ellert, a veteran hospitality developer, and is co-owned by marine artist and ocean conservationist Guy Harvey and two other partners, Bill Shedd and Charles Forman. Guy Harvey's eco-friendly outposts typically feature amenities and programs tied to the beach, boating, fishing and diving. The company has properties in Islamorada, St. Petersburg Beach and St. Augustine, as well as in the Bahamas, Cayman Islands, Mexico and Galapagos Islands off Ecuador. Elite currently manages Citrus Valley and Salt Springs RV resorts in Florida and Strawberry Park in Connecticut. It has sold 150 lots at its Citrus Valley community in Clermont, near Orlando. The new Tarpon Springs and Lake Okeechobee RV locations will showcase the company's brand of family focused outdoor adventure-type vacations to a new audience of outdoor enthusiasts, said Ellert, Guy Harvey Outpost's president.
